Vault Cracker Review

Melissa used to be the top burglar around but after giving up her job, her eight year old son Noah is kidnapped. The kidnapper wants Melissa to complete one last job in order to get her son back. Melissa thought her life of crime was over after years of living abroad under a false identity, that is until the day she decided to bring Noah to her hometown to show him were she grew up.

In order for Melissa to get her son back she will need to investigate a number of locations by finding hidden objects but it's not as easy as you might think. A lot of items in the game are interactive and need other items to use or to move the item out of the way such as moving a lawn mower, you may need to find gas or opening a crate, you may need to find the correct tools. At the end of each chapter in the game you will need to crack a safe by solving different types of puzzles. After cracking the safe you will need to complete one more hidden object scene to complete the chapter.

One feature that I particularly liked but not a major feature was that Melissa is fully customizable. Between each chapter you get the chance to dress Melissa how you like, change her hairstyle and even her makeup. I found this a neat little feature that is unlike other HOG games. The setting and storyline of Vault Cracker brings hidden object games to a brand new level although gameplay is pretty standard for this genre.
