After downloading and playing Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox it soon became noticable that it is not like your normal hidden object game.

The biggest noticable difference was the items which I had to search for. You don't look for an item as a whole, but instead you look for parts of an item, for example a shield, you may have to search for 5 or 6 pieces to make the whole shield. There is no hint even to what the shape of each bit might be. I found this quite frustrating to begin with becasue a lot of the pieces didn't have the shape of anything you would associate with a shield, but as I got further into the game it was easier to pick up.

After you find and complete all the items you then have to put the items back in their rightful place, for example a statue head needs to be placed back on the broken statue. This is not as easy as it sounds as there are certain things that need to be done before other's.

The game is made up of time zones and each time zone has a map with different area's to visit. Mortimer travels through portals to different time zones after he's completed each of the puzzles in each area of the map.

One thing I like about Mortimer Beckett and Time Paradox is that it lets you know how many puzzles you still need to complete and how many hidden objects there are still to find and how many items still need to be put back in their rightful place in each of the area's on the map. This is a big plus as you know exactly which area's you've completed and which still need things doing to progress onto the next area.

The game lasted quite some time so play value is good. If you have not played Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox I suggest downloading the FREE trail and seeing for yourself if it's a game for you.
